Le Love List

1. EcoTools Blush Brush.  I’ve never felt a brush that is so soft!  I picked this brush up at Ulta because I’ve been in a blush phase the past couple of months.  It’s soft and applies blush to my cheeks like a dream, but it also blends it out so it looks completely natural.

2. Dark Hair.  I loved my red hair, I really did.  But the cold weather was making me itchy and I needed a change.  Because I couldn’t change the room around again, I did the next best thing and colored my hair.  It’s a shade or so darker than my natural color, and the red before peeks through, giving a really pretty color.  I’ll do a post next week showing it.

3. The Inheritance Cycle.  I’ve loved these books since the first one came out.  Kyle got me the entire boxed set for my birthday, and I’ve been racing through them to FINALLY know what happens in the end!  I’ve become attached to the characters all over again, and I’m going to be so sad to see this entire story end, but I’ve been waiting for years.

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, and I hope everyone has a good weekend too.  Me?  I’m going to another Thanksgiving where I’ll gain another 10 pounds….

Weekend Send-off

I’m not even going to try to make excuses for not blogging.  Let’s just back into this, with a lovely love list for the past week or so.

1. MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in “Fanfare“.  I got this about a week ago after heavily researching which MAC lipstick I wanted to get.  When I went to the counter, I asked to swatch Fanfare, and fell in love.  I knew that I had to have it.  It’s the glossiest, most moisturizing lipstick I own.  I’ve worn it everyday since I got it, and it gives my lips a perfect, light pink tint, which is quite natural compared to the other lipstick I was wearing daily.  I wear it to work, and I can go all 6 hours without re-applying, which is good, because I don’t have the time to reapply lipstick constantly.

2. MAC Paint pot in “Painterly“.  This was another product I had been eying but I couldn’t decide whether or not to get it.  Paint pots are not the cheapest thing, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t dropping cash on something I wouldn’t use daily, and not get my money from it.  Well, I should not have been worried, because the day I got Painterly, I put it on my lids and fell in love with the texture and the color.  When it came time to wash my makeup off that night, I saw that my eyes looked the same as when I applied the eyeshadow.  That was when I knew it was true love.  Painterly is a light colored (pretty much skintoned) cream that applies like a dream.  It covers up my dark eyes (because of my lack of sleep), and provides the perfect base for my eyeshadows.  But it also works all by itself to give me a brighter eye, and I sometimes pair it with just mascara.

3. Phyto Phytojoba Shampoo.  Another quite expensive product is this shampoo.  I have the tiny travel sized one to test out before buying the full size, but I know that the full size is in my future.  I love almost everything about this shampoo.  It makes my hair feel so clean and healthy, but moisturized at the same time.  The scent is a perfect coconut milk, and I love just smelling it.  It is a bit thin, and takes time to lather, but my hair has never looked so good.  My frizz has turned into soft waves (every single day), and its so shiny!  Again, love at first sight.

And other things that have made my week: knowing that I’ll be going home for Christmas, the thought of new tattoos when I do go home, talking to old friends and making plans to see them, lounging in bed all day reading, heated floors, my Filtrete water station, taking long, hot showers that unwind my muscles, and the fresh, cool sunshine because soon enough, it will be snowing, but also, the thought of cozy, snowy afternoons, covered in a blanket and thick sweater, reading and drinking tea.

Hope everyone has had a fantastic week, and I hope your weekend is just as lovely.

A Weekend Send-Off

It’s been one heck of a long week.  I had a birthday (on Wednesday), I celebrated my birthday on Tuesday, and I’ve been working all week as well, so pretty much everything is falling by the wayside (school, blog, etc).  I’m also still recovering from being sick, and I’m still really really tired all the time.  Hopefully I can kick this cold and get better.  Anyways, here’s the love list for the week.

1. 3M Filtrete Water Station.  We’ve all seen the commercials, and I’ve always lusted after this thing.  If you haven’t seen the commercial, this water station is a filtration system that, instead of filtering into a large pitcher, filters into 4 bottles.  This is helping me drink more water, and I’m so in love with the novelty of filtered water in bottles that I don’t have to throw away.

2. Bamboo 12 Tray Drawer Organizer.  I ordered this from The Container Store, and if you know me, you’ll know that I love to organize.  This organizer went into my newly established “make-up drawer”, and it holds all my lashes, my eyeshadows, and the other things I use on a daily basis.

3. Andrea Modlash Lashes #21.  I’ve recently gotten into false lashes, and these are really natural, but really perfect looking lashes.  They fit me just right and make my eyes pop when I wear them.  They’re also really inexpensive and last pretty long (if taken care of properly).

I hope that everyone has a great weekend, full of napping and lazing about (if that’s your thing, if not, I wish you lots of fun times).

A Very Belated Love List

Wow, I’ve been seriously MIA this entire week, but I swear, I had a good reason to be.  I’ve been sicker than a dog for the past week or so, and have been in and out of the doctor’s office (and hospital) to try and figure out what’s wrong with me.  I’m on some medicines now to try and fix me, and I hope that they work and I can get back to being normal again.  A day late, but here’s the love list:

1. The “My Favorite Lip Balm” and “My Favorite Night Balm” duo from Bath and Body Works.  I use the lip balm during the day, and the night balm during the night (obviously), and my lips have never felt softer, or more moisturized.  Both balms have 5% shea butter, and the lip balm has 2% sweet almond oil as well.  They smell amazing, the texture is wonderful (not sticky or thin or goopy), and they really do what they say they do.  My only beef is the size of the night balm.  Where the lip balm is .5oz, the night balm is only .34oz, and for $7.50 a piece, that’s a bit pricey.

2. Wet n Wild blush in “Mellow Wine”.  This was sort of an impulse buy at Ulta a few days back, and because it was $3, I figured if it wasn’t a good blush, I wasn’t out much.  I ended up really loving it.  It’s got really good pigmentation (it is matte), and the color (which is a deeper rosy pink) is perfect for fall.  It gives a really nice, healthy flush to my skin.

3. Swiss Vervaine Melange Herbal Tea from Teavana.  This is such a wonderful tea.  It’s got a hint of sweetness (from orange, apple, and peach pieces, among other fruits), but also a minty taste thanks to peppermint.  I add a bit of sugar to it, and it’s perfect.

Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of the weekend, full of warm cat naps and as much vitamin D as you can get before the snow comes!

Oops…I Forgot a Title

A few things for my love list before I get started on homework (which is due in an hour).

1. Maybelline Eyeshadows.  If you remember from my Day Routine, I used Maybelline eyeshadows in my eye makeup.  Well, they seem to always be on sale in Ulta, and yesterday, I went in looking for a dark brown (I have a ton of browns, but they aren’t quite as dark as I want them to be), armed with a $5 off $10 coupon, and the knowlege that the eyeshadows were Buy Two, Get One Free (this is when I got my last three, as well).  I was going to just get three (because who can pass up a sale?), but I couldn’t decide on my third shadow.  It was between a copper, a matte turquoise, a emerald green, and a deep purple.  The boyfriend was no help at all… So I just got all of them!  I love how smooth these shadows are, how pigmented, and especially the price!

2. The Vampire Diaries.  We just got done watching the first season.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but ended up loving it.  I can’t wait until we get the second season (which is on hold at the library).

3.  Being an idiot with the boyfriend.  We were sneaking around Naperville a few nights ago, avoiding people (i.e. hiding in bushes, behind trees, etc when people were coming) and I haven’t laughed that much since early in the year.  We threw leaves at each other like they were snowballs, and walked around in the cemetery (which scared me so bad), and then ended the night with gatorade, jerky and ranch corn nuts.  It was a wonderful night, and I had so much fun doing it.

I really need to get some homework done before class, so I’m going to go work on that.  I hope everyone has a long, restful weekend, and I’ll see you again on Monday (or maybe Tuesday).

Weekend Send-Off

Today is going to be a long day.  I have class in about 30 minutes, shopping for an outfit to wear dancing this weekend, and then back for work.  And then I close tonight, so I won’t be back until late.  These days are wearing me out.  I hit the snooze button at least five times every morning, and nothing can get me out of bed until I see the clock and realize that I have about 5 minutes to make the 10 minute walk to class.  I made it just in time this morning to take my first French test, and when I was finished, I was tempted to take a nap.  It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been staying up until 3 a.m. reading (on my phone) every night.  Oh well.  I get to sleep in tomorrow.  Enough babbling; here’s the love list.

1. Nicky Charles.  I downloaded Aldiko on my phone  (I’ve been trying to stay away from the library…I don’t have a lot of time to read, and I don’t want to run up any fines, so I’m just reading from my phone, or the books I already have), and there’s a database of thousands of free books written by self-published authors.  I discovered a series that I can’t tear myself away from written by Nicky Charles.  I’m on the third book now, and I got really excited when I found out there should be a fourth book coming out sometime soon.  (She’s also made me want to write my own stories…something I miss doing now that I have no time for it.)

2. Floral J. Crew Scarf.  I’ve been living in this thing.  It’s light enough that it doesn’t look too winter-y (I’ll bring out my black/grey scarf for winter), but its warm enough to wear when it’s blustery and cold outside.  I love the subtle floral print, and I love the scrunched up look of it.

3. Maybelline Eyestudio eyeshadow in Carbon Frost.  I picked this up at Walgreen’s a week or so ago, and I love it.  It’s half black, half pinks/burgundies.  Swirling them together gives a shimmery deep pink.  I normally use the pink side for the lid, and then put the black through my crease.  But I use the line where the shadows meet so my crease isn’t too intense.

So, what are you guys loving this week?  Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, filled with lovely catnaps and long, restful nights (because I don’t think mine will be).  See you all Monday with an etiquette post.

Weekend Send-Off

I’ve been absent a lot this week, and for good reason.  I’ve been clocking around 30 hours of work, and on top of that, school is taking up a lot of my time (French in particular).  I’ll try to post regularly next week to update you all a bit about what I’m up to, but a short Love List should hold you over for the weekend.

1. French.  At first, I was scared.  I went into french class, and the whole class was taught in french.  I knew a few words, but she didn’t use them that often.  but every day I understand more and more, and I always leave class happy.  It’s a beautiful language, and I can’t wait to be able to speak it.

2. Sleeping in.  I don’t get to sleep in very much on MWF because my french class is at 9:20 (and I usually stay up late the night before doing homework when I get off work), but because I don’t have class until 4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and work after, I get to sleep in.  On Saturdays, I don’t work until 12, and I’m off on Sundays.  Getting a few hours of rest and some reading time really pulls my week together, and gives me some much needed sanity.  And then I’m off to class, and after, sprinting to make it to work on time.

3. Work.  I’ve gotten A LOT of hours, and I’m always exhausted when I get off (I’ve been closing most nights, and pulling 8 hour shifts other nights), but I love being at work.  I love how fast paced it is, I love the job I’m assigned to (not the lobby though), I love talking with customers, and I love the people I work with.  I always find something to laugh hysterically about, and I’m always excited to get my uniform on to head to work.  (I’m also learning some spanish from the people I work with.)  And it helps that I’m making A LOT of money here :)

That was my love list; what are you loving this week?  Have a wonderful weekend, and I hope to see you all on Monday!
